SEPC Faces Major Blow as ₹521 Crore Contract (50% of Market Cap by value) is Terminated

SEPC
’s unincorporated joint venture, SEPC-Furlong JV, has received a termination notice from M/s. Shalimar Corp Limited (SCL) for a ₹521.46 crore lump-sum turnkey EPC sub-contract. The cancelled project involved the four-lane widening and upgradation of the Shahjahanpur-Bisalpur section in Uttar Pradesh. Severe Adverse Impact: The cancellation of this contract is a massive negative trigger for SEPC, primarily due to its disproportionate size relative to the company's valuation: Staggering Scale: The lost order value of ₹521.46 crore represents approximately 50% of SEPC’s entire market capitalization. Losing a single contract of this magnitude is an extraordinary event that severely distorts the company's risk-reward profile. Order Book & Revenue Shock: The sudden erasure of such a substantial portion of the order book drastically dents the company's revenue visibility and future earnings pipeline for the coming fiscal years. Financial & Valuation Overhang: Beyond the lost top-line, the termination raises concerns about potential write-offs for mobilization advances, preliminary project expenses, and opportunity costs incurred since the Letter of Acceptance was received in May 2026. It also casts a shadow on the company's operational execution and client relationships. Management Response & Next Steps: In response to the abrupt cancellation, SEPC has immediately referred the matter to arbitration to contest the termination, protect its financial interests, and claim damages. The company is currently awaiting the original physical copy of the termination notice (received via email on July 11, 2026) and will keep the stock exchanges informed of any material developments. Outlook: Investors will be closely monitoring the arbitration proceedings. Until the dispute is resolved or a settlement is reached, the stock is likely to face severe downward pressure and heightened volatility due to the massive uncertainty surrounding this 50%-of-market-cap order loss.
