Infosys Ltd Q2FY27 Result Outlook & Analysis

Executive Verdict: Infosys delivered better-than-expected revenue growth, but a downward revision in FY27 guidance highlights persistent demand weakness, pricing pressure and AI-led structural disruption. The stock declined nearly 6.4% as investors reacted to a weaker growth outlook. Financial Performance: Consolidated revenue rose 10.7% YoY to ₹49,244 crore, marginally beating estimates of ₹49,108 crore. Constant-currency revenue grew 1.5%, outperforming Wipro's 0.6%. Net profit increased 6.2% to ₹7,828 crore but missed the ₹7,904 crore consensus. Operating margin remained stable at 21.1%, while FY27 margin guidance was retained at 20–22%. The board announced an interim dividend of ₹26 per share, up 13% YoY. However, wage hikes and pricing pressures could weigh on H2 margins. Guidance & Demand: Infosys cut FY27 constant-currency revenue growth guidance to 1–2%, from 1.5–3%, reflecting weaker discretionary spending, softer client volumes and macroeconomic uncertainty. North American revenue declined 1.5% YoY, while Hi-Tech and Retail fell 17.3% and 7.7%, respectively. Financial Services and Energy & Utilities remained relatively resilient. Deal Pipeline: Large deal wins reached $5.2 billion, including a mega-deal exceeding $2 billion. However, revenue conversion will take time, with meaningful benefits expected from FY28. Competitive bidding could also constrain margins. AI: Opportunity & Risk: AI-linked revenue rose to 10.5% of total revenue from 8.2% in Q1, growing 29% sequentially. However, AI-driven automation is compressing traditional IT service contracts, creating structural pricing and revenue pressures. Workforce & Outlook: Headcount reached 332,542, with 4,480 net additions and attrition at 12.7%. Investor Takeaway: Near-term sentiment remains cautious. Investors should monitor deal conversion, organic demand recovery and margin protection against wage inflation and AI-led pricing compression before expecting a sustained valuation recovery.
