Tata Motors CV Ltd Q2FY27 Result Fundamental Outlook
Tata Motors’ Commercial Vehicle (CV) business delivered a stellar Q2FY27, swinging to a net profit of ₹1,257 crore (compared to a ₹867 crore loss in Q2FY26). This sharp recovery was fueled by a 36.3% YoY surge in revenue to ₹25,338 crore, robust vehicle sales, and reduced mark-to-market losses on Tata Capital investments. Volumes were exceptionally strong, with wholesales jumping 42% YoY to 135,100 units. Domestic volumes grew 30%, while exports surged a massive 177%. While EBITDA grew 31% to ₹2,800 crore, EBITDA margins contracted by 40 bps to 10.9% due to rising commodity costs, particularly steel and rubber. Despite these pressures, rigorous cost management, operating efficiencies, and calibrated price hikes (effective October 1) helped maintain margins sequentially. The balance sheet remains highly resilient. The company generated a standalone free cash flow of ₹4,606 crore, bringing consolidated net cash to ₹15,900 crore. Furthermore, domestic CV market share expanded 110 bps to 36.2% in H1FY27. Management anticipates industry growth will moderate in H2FY27 due to high base effects but expects Tata Motors to outperform the sector. Given the stock's 4.41% dip to ₹395.70 on Friday prior to these post-market results, the strong underlying cash flow and market share gains present a compelling operational narrative.
