Tata Elxsi Limited (TATAELXSI) reported Q2 FY27 operating revenue of ₹1,055.7 crore, up 15% year on year. Net profit was ₹170.3 crore, almost unchanged from ₹170.6 crore in the previous quarter.
The operating numbers improved. EBITDA rose 7.1% sequentially to ₹231.4 crore, and EBITDA margin reached 21.9%, up from 21.2% in Q1.
But the profit figure tells a different story. Despite higher revenue and better operating margins, net profit did not grow sequentially.
My view is that the improvement in operating performance is encouraging, especially after a difficult period for the stock. However, one quarter of better margins does not establish a sustained recovery.
The distinction matters because Tata Elxsi has historically traded at a premium valuation. Investors are paying for expectations of strong growth and profitability. If revenue grows but net profit remains stagnant, that premium becomes harder to justify.
The company reported broad-based sequential growth across transportation, media and healthcare. I would now look for that momentum to continue, particularly in transportation, its largest business vertical.
The next trigger is Q3 FY27 results. I want to see revenue growth continue while operating margins hold above 21.5% and net profit begins growing sequentially.
My stance: The operating trend has improved, but I would wait for consistent profit growth before calling this a sustained recovery.#StockInNews#EquityResearch#FundamentalViews#SectorBreakouts
