GRSE Wins Rs 32,000 Crore Navy Corvette Order
GRSE Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) signed a Rs 32,000 crore contract with the Indian Navy on Monday evening, 2 November, for the construction and delivery of five Next Generation Corvettes. The company emerged as the lowest bidder, and the deliveries are spread over nine years and four months. The contract is part of a larger programme in which the Ministry of Defence signed contracts worth Rs 53,866.50 crore with GRSE and Goa Shipyard Limited for eight Next Generation Corvettes. GRSE will build five of the eight warships, and Goa Shipyard will build the remaining three. The order is more than 4.5 times GRSE’s FY2025-26 standalone revenue from operations of Rs 7,002 crore, and more than double its order book of Rs 15,324 crore reported on 31 March 2026. GRSE shares rose nearly 9% to an intraday high of Rs 2,231 on Tuesday, 3 November. Defence stocks including Mazagon Dock, Cochin Shipyard, Unimech Aerospace, Solar Industries, Data Patterns and Bharat Dynamics also rallied up to 9% during the session. The order is large against GRSE’s current revenue and order book, so investors will watch how execution proceeds over the nine-year-four-month delivery period.
