How to Build Long-Term Wealth Through Dividend Stocks

One simple way to build wealth over time is to invest in financially strong companies that pay sustainable dividends and reinvest those dividends to buy more shares. Here’s how compounding works. Suppose you invest ₹1,00,000 in a stock portfolio earning an average annual total return of 12%, with dividends reinvested. After 10 years, ₹1 lakh could grow to around ₹3.11 lakh. After 20 years, it could grow to around ₹9.65 lakh. That’s how time and compounding can make a difference. Reinvested dividends help you own more shares, which may generate more dividends in the future. But the company matters. Look for consistent cash flow, manageable debt, healthy profits, strong fundamentals and a dividend payout the business can sustain. Don't focus only on a high dividend yield. A falling share price can make the yield look attractive even when the business is struggling. The goal is to own quality businesses, reinvest patiently and allow your investment to grow over the long term. The calculation assumes a steady 12% annual total return. Actual returns will vary, and dividends are not guaranteed.
