Pre Market Report & Global Cues | 12 October, 2026
Global cues are mildly positive, but the bigger concerns for Indian markets remain crude oil, bond yields and the rupee. US futures are trading around in mild profits, while Asian markets are mixed. Gift Nifty is indicating an opening around 80 points higher, following Friday's rally in Nifty. However, a positive opening does not mean the pressure has eased. Brent crude is around $103 per barrel. Crude remains expensive for an oil-importing country like India. If prices stay at these levels, it can add to import costs and inflation, while putting further pressure on the rupee. The currency is already a major concern. USD/INR is at 96.73, while India's 10-year bond yield has moved up to 7.29% and the 5-year yield to 7.05%. The US 10-year yield is also high at 5.24%. These elevated yields can keep borrowing costs and valuation pressure high, even if equities open in the green. On the stock-specific front, Positive Side: 1. Poonawalla Fincorp reported a sharp rise in quarterly profit to ₹375 crore, up 405% year-on-year. 2. KEC International secured ₹1,014 crore in new transmission and distribution orders. 3. Ashoka Buildcon emerged as the lowest bidder for a ₹290.23 crore rail infrastructure contract. 4. Blue Dart is also in focus after signing an MoU with India Post to expand last-mile delivery in smaller towns. Negative Side: 1. DMart reported 8.5% profit growth to ₹743 crore, but the result fell short of expectations. 2. Anand Rathi Wealth reported a 9.5% year-on-year decline in standalone quarterly profit. These stocks may see stock-specific reactions as investors assess the results. For today's session: Nifty may start higher, but the key question is whether buyers can sustain the gains. With crude above $100, the rupee near 96.7 and Indian bond yields elevated, the broader market still faces significant pressure. Watch the opening range and follow-through buying before treating the gap-up as a fresh bullish move.
