Why a Perfect Breakout Can Fail........๐Ÿ‘‡

A stock breaks resistance, the candle looks strong, and traders rush to buy. But sometimes, price reverses soon after the breakout and catches buyers off guard. One reason is liquidity. Orders tend to build around important price levels. Above resistance, breakout traders place buy orders, while short sellers often keep their stop-losses in the same area. When price moves above resistance, both can create additional buying activity. Large traders also need enough opposite-side orders to execute big positions without moving the price too much against themselves. For example, a large seller needs buyers to take the other side of the trade. If selling pressure absorbs the buying around a breakout, the upward move can lose strength and price can reverse. Buyers who entered late are then left in a difficult position. This doesn't mean every failed breakout is a planned trap. But it explains why a resistance breakout alone isn't enough to judge a trade. Look beyond the line on the chart. Pay attention to volume, price reaction and what happens after the breakout. A breakout shows where price has moved. The reaction after it tells you more about the strength of that move.
