Havells India Ends Trademark Battle with HPL Group Through ₹129.6 Crore Settlement

New Delhi, November 9, 2025:** Havells India Limited has brought an end to its long-standing trademark dispute with the HPL Group through a comprehensive settlement valued at ₹129.60 crore. The company informed the stock exchanges that a **Settlement Agreement** was signed on **November 8, 2025**, following mediation facilitated by the **Delhi High Court**. The agreement conclusively resolves all ongoing litigations and disputes related to the use of the word and mark **‘HAVELLS’**, including cases pending before the Delhi High Court and Special Leave Petitions in the Supreme Court. Under the terms of settlement, the **HPL Group and its promoters have acknowledged Havells India’s absolute rights to the ‘HAVELLS’ mark since 1971** and have **waived any claims** to it. Additionally, the HPL Group has undertaken to **change the corporate names** of its entities—Havell’s Private Limited and Havells Electronics Private Limited—to names that do not include the term ‘Havells’. The settlement ensures that the HPL Group will **not use or challenge** the trademark in any form going forward. For Havells India, this development marks a major legal and strategic victory, securing its exclusive ownership of one of India’s most recognized electrical brands. The resolution also eliminates a long-standing source of brand confusion in the market, allowing the company to focus fully on its business growth and innovation.
