Jio Financial Services: Bank of America to Invest ₹18,268 Crore in Jio Credit 🚀

Jio Financial Services Limited (JIOFIN) has announced a major strategic partnership with Bank of America (BofA), which will invest up to ₹18,268 crore (~$1.9 billion) in Jio Credit Limited (JCL), JFSL’s wholly owned lending subsidiary. 🔹 Key Deal Highlights BofA will initially acquire a 26.5% stake in Jio Credit through a preferential issue of equity shares. The investment also includes warrants that could take BofA’s ownership to 49.9% upon full conversion. Jio Credit has already achieved ₹30,667 crore in AUM as of June 30, 2026, within just two years of operations, highlighting the rapid scale-up of its lending business. 💡 Why It Matters The partnership brings together Jio’s digital reach and understanding of the Indian market with BofA’s global financial-services expertise. The additional capital is expected to support Jio Credit’s growth, while BofA will bring capabilities in risk management, governance and technology. Importantly, Jio Credit will continue to be consolidated as a subsidiary of Jio Financial Services, while the JCL board will have equal representation from JFSL and BofA. 📈 Investor Takeaway This transaction represents a significant strategic validation of Jio Financial’s lending platform. A global financial institution entering Jio Credit at this scale could strengthen its capital base, governance, technology and risk-management capabilities, potentially supporting faster expansion in India’s growing credit market. Bottom line: The BofA partnership is a significant long-term development for JIOFIN, particularly for its ambition to build a large-scale, technology-driven financial-services ecosystem.
