JTL Expands HR Coil Capacity to Support Growth

JTLIND
JTL Industries has announced a ₹15 crore capacity expansion through its subsidiary, JTL Engineering, to strengthen its narrow-width hot-rolled (HR) coil manufacturing capabilities. The project will double monthly HR coil capacity from 5,000 MT to 10,000 MT, with commissioning expected in Q4 FY27. The expansion will also increase the maximum coil width from 9 inches to 11 inches, allowing the company to cater to a wider range of product specifications and customer requirements. In my view, the development is important because it strengthens JTL's manufacturing capabilities and could provide greater flexibility in meeting the requirements of its downstream steel tube and pipe business. Higher in-house coil capacity may also improve supply-chain integration and reduce dependence on external suppliers for this critical input. The relatively modest ₹15 crore investment, compared with the doubling of capacity, makes execution and capacity utilisation important factors to watch. However, the financial benefit will ultimately depend on demand for the additional capacity, utilisation levels and the margins generated from the expanded product range. Investors should therefore monitor the commissioning timeline, capacity utilisation and the impact on operating margins after the facility becomes operational. Overall, the expansion is a positive operational development that could support JTL's future volume growth and strengthen its manufacturing integration.
