India’s Power Grid Story: One HVDC Order, A Much Bigger
As renewable power grows in Rajasthan and other regions, the next challenge is moving that electricity efficiently to where it is needed.
That is where **HVDC transmission** enters the story.
GE Vernova T&D India has emerged as L1 for the **Barmer II–South Kalamb 6,000 MW HVDC project**. The proposed GE Vernova contract is estimated around ₹13,000 crore, while the overall project is expected to be much larger. The development could significantly improve long-term revenue visibility.
As renewable generation, data centres, electrification and industrial demand expand, India needs transformers, substations, transmission lines, grid automation and HVDC equipment.
