ASIANENE
Asian Energy Services (NSE : ASIANENE) provides technical services to oil and gas companies, covering seismic surveys, engineering, procurement and construction, and integrated field development. It has over three decades of experience in specialist oilfield services.
What happened:
In FY26, consolidated revenue grew 70.1%, while EBITDA margin fell from 15.6% to 12.5%. The company added Kuiper, an international services business, and reported an exceptional charge of Rs 9.4 crore. In Q1FY27, consolidated revenue rose 135% year on year but EBITDA margin declined to 8.1% from 10.5%. The standalone Indian business grew 29.4% in Q1FY27 with EBITDA margin improving to 10.9% from 10.3%.
Why it matters:
The NCLT sanctioned the merger of Oilmax Energy on 29 September 2026, adding five oil and gas blocks with estimated reserves of 70 million barrels and current output of 2,500 barrels a day. Oilmax reports EBITDA margins above 50%. The standalone order book stands at Rs 1,754 crore, with Rs 3,000 to 4,000 crore of active bids outstanding across oil and gas and mineral services.
What I am watching:
Revenue grew at twice the rate of EBITDA in FY26, so each rupee of additional sales retained less profit. Oilmax targets 10,000 barrels a day by FY29 or FY30, against current output of 2,500. Promoter holding fell from 60.75% to 56.10% in six months to September 2026. ROCE stands at 16.3% and FY26 operating cash flow was Rs 53 crore.
My stance:
The shift from fee-based services into oil production is logical. But margins are falling as the business expands, and Oilmax targets are years away. At 32 times earnings, the stock fully prices an outcome that has not yet arrived.
I do not hold a position in Asian Energy Services at the time of writing. This is not investment advice.#EquityResearch#HiddenGems#FundamentalViews#WatchOutFor
