SENCO
Senco Gold (NSE: SENCO) is a Kolkata-based jewellery retailer with 215 showrooms across India as of Q2 FY27, up from 192 a year earlier. It sells gold, diamond, and silver jewellery, with a growing share from digital channels and old gold exchange programs.
What happened: Senco reported same-store-sales growth (SSSG) of 19% year-on-year in Q2 FY27, up sharply from 7.5% SSSG in the first half of FY26. Growth came from Ratha Yatra, Onam, and Ganesh Chaturthi demand, combined with 53% growth in digital channel sales. Old gold exchange as a share of sales rose above 50%, facilitating demand conversion at elevated gold prices. Diamond jewellery revenue grew 31% year-on-year in value terms. Gold prices averaged Rs 1.5 lakh per 10 gram in Q2 FY27, up more than 40% YoY, pushing customers toward exchange-based purchases.
Why it matters: Titan trades at 67.1x P/E; Senco trades at 9.6x -- an 85% discount despite comparable SSSG. ROE is 25.6%, similar to peers Kalyan (24.8%) and P N Gadgil (23.5%). Senco is the smallest of the three regional chains here, but its digital sales acceleration and old gold exchange penetration above 50% are the highest.
What I am watching: Whether digital sales maintain above 50% growth, how old gold exchange mix evolves as gold prices stabilise, and whether store additions hold pace.
My stance: The 85% valuation discount to Titan is extreme. Senco matches or exceeds peer SSSG and has the strongest digital momentum. The discount likely reflects smaller scale and lower institutional coverage. If SSSG holds above 15% for two more quarters, the gap is difficult to justify fundamentally.
I do not hold a position in Senco Gold at the time of writing. This is not investment advice.#FundamentalViews#WatchOutFor#TrendingSectors#EquityResearch
