Travel Food Services – Airport Growth Play

Travel Food Services sits at the crossroads of two powerful trends: rising air travel and India’s growing appetite for branded, quick food. As a leading operator of airport QSR outlets and lounges, the company benefits directly from higher passenger traffic and improving airport infrastructure. System‑wide sales reached about ₹7.3 billion in Q2 FY26, up 18.4% year‑on‑year, even though passenger numbers at key airports fell due to geopolitical disruptions and flight cuts. Profit also grew in double digits, helped by tight cost control and better throughput per outlet. For shareholders, this operating leverage is important. The company now runs over 500 QSR outlets and lounges across India and select overseas locations, with 50 new units and four lounges added in the past year. New concessions at Cochin and Delhi Terminal 2, and planned openings at Noida and Navi Mumbai, expand its footprint in high‑traffic, high‑rent but high‑yield locations. Brand additions such as Gordon Ramsay Street Burger are aimed at lifting spends per customer and strengthening the premium mix. Joint ventures are contributing to consolidated earnings, and the balance sheet carries zero debt with a healthy cash pile, giving room to fund growth without equity dilution or interest burden. Since listing in July 2025, the

stock has delivered mid‑teens to low‑twenties percentage returns, reflecting investor faith in this niche, oligopolistic space. The strategic risk is concentration: revenues depend heavily on airport traffic and concession renewals, which are exposed to geopolitical shocks, regulatory changes, and aggressive bids for space. Yet, for long‑term investors comfortable with aviation‑linked cycles, Travel Food Services offers a rare, asset‑light way to ride India’s travel and eating‑out boom, with improving profitability and disciplined capital use tilted in favour of shareholder value creation.
