WHEELS
Wheels India (NSE : WHEELS) manufactures steel and aluminium wheels for passenger cars, trucks, buses, tractors and earthmovers, plus air suspension systems and wind turbine components. Automotive parts are 83% of revenue; industrial parts 17%. About 75% of sales are domestic; 25% go to 27 countries, led by construction wheels and wind turbine parts to the United States.
What happened:
In Q2FY27, revenue grew 35.4% year on year to Rs 1,711 crore on strong overseas demand for construction wheels, a 50% jump in air suspension volumes and higher wheel sales. EBITDA rose 8.4% to Rs 143.7 crore at a margin of 8.4%. Net profit grew 87.5% to Rs 60 crore. Debt fell 22% from Rs 1,167 crore in March 2026 to Rs 910 crore, reducing interest costs ahead.
Why it matters:
The alloy wheel segment is the swing factor. Monthly capacity is 80,000 units now, rising to 1,30,000 by March 2027 and 1,70,000 later. The break-even is 40,000 units per month, already surpassed. At 1,00,000 units per month, management targets a 10-12% EBITDA margin for the segment. Alloy volumes should double by Q4FY27, with the segment turning profit-positive from December 2026.
What I am watching:
Wheels India trades at 28.5 times trailing earnings, above its three-year median of 20.7 times. ROE is 15.8% and ROCE 18.8%, both above industry median. The blended EBITDA margin at 8.4% remains thin. The alloy ramp must sustain its pace to reach management’s 10% margin target within two years.
My stance:
The revenue growth is real and debt reduction is a genuine positive. But at 28.5 times, the market is pricing in a successful alloy ramp. Until margins confirm the story, the valuation leaves very little cushion.
I do not hold a position in Wheels India at the time of writing. This is not investment advice.#WatchOutFor#EquityResearch#TrendingSectors#HiddenGems#FundamentalViews
