Adani Power are broadly positive from a business/sector

Power demand is currently a major tailwind: India faced its highest power shortage in more than three years in September, while states are seeking additional power amid strong industrial demand, weak hydropower generation and several coal plants being offline. This is supportive for thermal generators such as Adani Power. Capacity expansion remains the key growth driver: Adani Power is targeting a major increase in thermal capacity, with Mahan Phase-II, Raipur Phase-II and Raigarh Phase-II projects under execution. The company is targeting 23.7 GW of thermal capacity additions by 2032. Long-term PPAs are improving earnings visibility: The company received a 1,600 MW, 25-year PPA/LoA from MSEDCL for a new ultra-supercritical project. About 95% of operating capacity was tied up under long/medium-term PPAs as of FY26. GVK Energy acquisition: Adani Power received a Letter of Intent after creditors endorsed its resolution plan for GVK Energy's 330 MW hydro project in Uttarakhand, subject to NCLT approval. This would further diversify its generation portfolio. Financial performance remains strong: FY26 PAT was about ₹12,971 crore, while Q4 FY26 PAT rose 64% YoY to ₹4,271 crore. However, FY26 continuing EBITDA was slightly lower YoY because of lower merchant power realisations. Important risk: Debt increased as the company funds its aggressive expansion. Total debt stood at about ₹53,556 crore at March 2026, versus ₹38,335 crore a year earlier.
