Emami Q2FY27 results show revenue growth but lagging margins
EMAMILTD reported Q2FY27 results showcasing a strong top-line recovery driven by peak season demand, core brand momentum, and scaling strategic investments like Axiom Ayurveda and IncNut Digital, which now account for 26 percent of domestic sales. Annualised revenue run rate for this investment portfolio crossed Rs 1,000 crore. However, profitability compressed due to persistent input cost inflation, geopolitical disruptions in international markets such as Nepal, integration expenses, and a normalising effective tax rate. This performance matters because it highlights a transition phase. While growth engines are accelerating, gross margins contracted due to an unfavourable mix shift toward newer strategic acquisitions. The market has heavily punished the stock over the past year, causing it to lag FMCG peers with a correction exceeding 30 percent, primarily because of high seasonality risks associated with its product portfolio. From an analytical viewpoint, the headline figures miss the operational resilience being built beneath the surface. The scaling of digital-first brands, rapid expansion of quick commerce at 15 percent of digital sales, and entry into baby care under BoroPlus provide a wider runway for long-term growth. The current valuation trades at an attractive P/E multiple of 18x FY28 estimated earnings, offering a deep discount relative to large-cap peers. Investors should monitor the stabilization of raw material costs, recovery in international markets in the second half of fiscal 2027, and whether strategic acquisitions can successfully expand EBITDA margins toward management targets.
