NCC executes ₹81,214 crore order book under focus

NCC Ltd (

NCC
) is sitting on an ₹81,214 crore order book as of 30 June 2026. The key question is whether the company can convert that backlog into profits, cash flows and shareholder returns. NCC operates across buildings, roads, railways, water, power transmission, irrigation and mining, giving it exposure to India's infrastructure spending cycle. Management has guided for 8-10% revenue growth in FY27 with an EBITDA margin of around 9%. What matters most is not the size of the order book, but execution. Infrastructure companies often report strong order inflows, yet delays in approvals, land acquisition, funding or billing can slow revenue recognition and cash collection. This is why working capital management deserves as much attention as revenue growth. There are some encouraging signs. Consolidated EBITDA margin improved to 9.4% in Q1 FY27 from 8.8% a year earlier, while EBITDA and PAT grew year-on-year. Management is also focusing on accelerating collections, reducing unbilled revenue and shortening the cash conversion cycle. The headline number may suggest strong future growth, but investors should look deeper. A large backlog creates revenue visibility, not guaranteed earnings. The real test is whether NCC can execute projects on schedule, keep margins stable and convert reported profits into cash. Its smart-meter SPVs and diversified business mix could provide additional growth avenues, but their financial contribution will need to be demonstrated over time. At around 10.2x P/E and 1x price-to-book, the stock's valuation appears tied closely to execution outcomes rather than growth expectations alone. View: The investment case for NCC depends less on winning new orders and more on disciplined execution, margin protection and cash-flow improvement over the next few years.
