) reported 28.7% YoY volume growth in Q3CY26, reaching 354.4 million cases.
Despite revenue rising 33.2% YoY to ₹6,607 crore, higher packaging costs pushed gross margin down 334 basis points to 53.1%.
The quarter highlights a key trade-off. Demand remains strong, with India volumes growing 22.5% and international volumes up 39.9%. Realisations also improved, supported by premiumisation and lower trade spending. However, inflation in packaging inputs such as preforms, shrink films, closures and cans more than offset these gains.
What matters is that the volume story remains intact. Concerns around competitive pressure from Campa Cola had raised questions about growth sustainability, but the latest numbers suggest weather disruption, rather than competition alone, was a major reason behind earlier weakness. Back-to-back quarters of double-digit India volume growth support that view.
The headline risk is margin pressure. Management believes the worst of input-cost inflation may now be reflected in earnings and expects industry-wide pricing actions or lower trade spending to help stabilise profitability. VBL has already reduced Sting pack size from 300 ml to 250 ml instead of implementing broad price hikes.
Investors should also watch capital allocation. The company plans significant expansion with ₹1,000 crore India capex and $90-100 million international capex. While this supports future growth, it is already leading to higher depreciation and finance costs after the Twizza acquisition, which could keep earnings growth below revenue growth in the near term.
View: Strong demand trends are encouraging, but sustained margin recovery is now the key monitor. Volume growth alone may not be enough unless profitability stabilises over the next few quarters.
