Infosys attrition falls as fresher hiring continues

Research Analyst: UJVIN NEVATIA (PROPRIETOR: NEVAT INVESTMENTS) | SEBI Registration No.: INH100009628 Infosys Limited (

INFY
) reported a voluntary attrition rate of 12.7% in Q2 FY27, down from 13% in the previous quarter and 14.3% a year earlier. Its total employee headcount increased to 332,542 as of September 30, 2026. What happened? Infosys added a net 4,480 employees during the quarter and hired 8,000 freshers. Software professionals accounted for 314,508 employees, while sales and support staff totalled 18,034. The proportion of women in the workforce increased to 39.8% from 39.5% a year earlier. AI-related revenue also gained importance, accounting for 10.5% of total revenue and growing 29% sequentially. Why does it matter? Lower attrition can support workforce stability and reduce replacement and training requirements. Fresher hiring also indicates continued investment in talent. However, employee additions need to be assessed alongside demand for IT services, utilisation levels and revenue growth. My view The workforce data shows improving employee retention alongside renewed hiring. The larger question is whether Infosys can effectively deploy its expanding workforce as clients increase AI adoption while remaining cautious about technology spending. What I am watching next I would track attrition, fresher onboarding, workforce utilisation, employee costs and the conversion of AI-related demand into sustainable revenue growth.
