India strength versus global operating challenges

Tata Steel Limited (

TATASTEEL
) is scheduled to announce Q2 FY27 results today, 27 October 2026. The key question is whether its India business can sustain operating strength while overseas operations and input costs remain important variables. Previous quarter snapshot Consolidated revenue: approximately ₹60,794 crore, up 14.3% year-on-year. Consolidated EBITDA: ₹9,370 crore, up 25% year-on-year. India EBITDA: approximately ₹9,908 crore, with an EBITDA margin of around 27%. Why Q2 matters India’s operating performance has been a key earnings driver, while the European business has faced operational challenges. Steel realisations, coking-coal costs and delivery volumes will help determine whether the company can sustain its profitability. What to monitor Consolidated EBITDA and EBITDA per tonne. Steel production and deliveries in India. Coking-coal, energy and other input costs. European operations and restructuring progress. Net debt and capital-expenditure requirements. My analytical view A sustained improvement in India’s profitability would be constructive, but investors should also assess overseas losses and balance-sheet commitments. The most useful signal will be operating performance across regions, not revenue growth in isolation. Risk: Global steel prices, trade restrictions, input-cost volatility and high capital expenditure can affect earnings and cash flow.
