ZYDUSLIFE
Zydus Lifesciences Limited, in partnership with MSN Laboratories, has launched the first generic version of Adempas (riociguat tablets) in the US across all five strengths: 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 1.5 mg, 2 mg and 2.5 mg.
The product has USFDA approval and is indicated for certain patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. The product was developed and manufactured by MSN, while Zydus brings its established US commercial platform.
Importantly, Bayer reported global Adempas sales of approximately US$850 million in 2025, although US sales of riociguat are not separately disclosed by IQVIA.
Why this matters
Being first to market can provide an important commercial window before additional generic competition arrives. But the addressable market should not be confused with Zydus's potential revenue.
Pricing, market share, competition and the commercial economics of the partnership will determine the actual earnings contribution.
What to monitor next
US launch and prescription uptake.
Pricing and future generic competition.
Revenue contribution and margins.
Zydus's share of the economics with MSN.
Further complex-generic launches.
My analytical view: This is a meaningful US product launch because Zydus and MSN are first to market. The key catalyst now shifts from regulatory approval to commercial execution and sustainable market share.
