KEC International wins ₹2,872 crore Power Grid orders!

KEC International Limited has secured ₹2,872 crore in orders from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) for 765 kV transmission lines. The company described this as the largest single order for its India transmission and distribution business. What happened? KEC International announced the new turnkey contracts on 24 October 2026. The work covers the design, supply and installation of high-voltage 765 kV transmission lines. The projects are associated with the evacuation of 8.5 GW of renewable energy from Gujarat. Following these orders, the company's year-to-date order intake has crossed ₹13,500 crore, including approximately ₹9,500 crore from its transmission and distribution business. 1. Order book visibility: The ₹2,872 crore win adds a substantial project pipeline to the company's transmission and distribution business. 2. Renewable energy infrastructure: The projects support the transmission network needed to carry renewable electricity from Gujarat. 3. Business growth: The order intake indicates continued activity in KEC's core power transmission segment. 4. Execution remains important: Winning a large contract does not automatically translate into immediate profit. Project costs, execution schedules and working-capital requirements will affect the final outcome.
