Jio Platforms IPO Nears Amid Valuation Questions

Jio Platforms, the digital and telecom arm of Reliance Industries, is preparing what would be India’s largest-ever IPO. It is expected to raise about $3.8 billion (₹33,000+ crore). Markets are closed today (Saturday), so there is no price reaction yet. The timings below come from media reports citing sources, not official announcements. Reported timeline: After SEBI’s final observations on August 28, Jio is expected to file its final prospectus in the week starting October 12 and hold an India roadshow that week. Reports say the anchor round could come before Dussehra, with the issue opening around October 21 and listing around October 28. Reuters is the source for those two dates. Valuation target: Sources put the enterprise valuation at $143-146 billion, or more than ₹12 trillion. The price band is not yet announced. Overseas roadshows are done. Akash and Isha Ambani led meetings in the US, UK, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore. Not all investor feedback is glowing. A report says some fund managers found the desired valuation ambitious and hard for the market to absorb. Valuation and pricing are not yet confirmed.

RELIANCE
shares are in focus too. They reportedly trade at about a 36% discount to the value of Reliance’s roughly two-thirds stake in Jio. Analysts see around 25% as a more sustainable gap once Jio lists. Why it matters: It would be the first Reliance group IPO since 2008 and its first consumer-facing one.

Bharat Dynamics order book reaches Rs 26,500 crore

BDL
expanded its order book to approximately Rs 26,500 crore at the end of Q1 FY27, providing revenue visibility equal to nearly 11 times its annual ***** defense manufacturer is emerging from execution bottlenecks caused by technical revisions and supply constraints in its key missile programs. Deliveries for the Akash and Astra systems are expected to ramp up starting Q2 FY27. Operations reflected initial recovery in Q1 FY27 as revenue grew 131 percent year-on-year to Rs 572 crore, turning EBITDA positive to Rs 83 crore from a loss of Rs 45 crore in Q1 ***** the strong order pipeline and upcoming opportunities like the Rs 12,000 crore QRSAM allocation support medium-term revenue visibility, execution remains the primary variable. The headline order book masks persistent reliance on imported components, which introduces supply chain risks and compresses operating margins to an estimated 14–15 percent in FY27. Additionally, growing participation from private sector players introduces long-term margin pressure on fresh order ***** trading at Rs 1,086, the stock trades around 33 percent below its 52-week high of Rs 1,633. At 41 times FY28 estimated earnings, valuations leave little margin for execution delays or cost overruns. Key parameters to track next include the pace of Akash missile deliveries in upcoming quarterly results, progress on Astra component sourcing, conversion timelines for QRSAM orders, and execution against the Rs 420 crore export order ***** an Equal-weight view on the stock, as current valuations already reflect the order pipeline while leaving minimal buffer for supply chain disruptions. Why Is Systematix Bullish on Apollo Micro systems?

APOLLO
Apollo Micro Systems has already gained more than 46% YTD, sharply outperforming the benchmark. Yet Systematix has initiated coverage with a Buy rating and ₹570 target price, implying around 40% upside from its reference price of ₹390. So, what is the brokerage seeing that could justify further upside? The Bigger Defence Opportunity Systematix's core thesis is that Apollo Micro Systems could transition from a supplier of electronic components and subsystems into an integrated defence-system manufacturer. The company has exposure to missile, rocket, torpedo and underwater-mine programmes, with capabilities spanning: Guidance systems Actuators Onboard computers Critical defence electronics Systematix sees a potential ₹12,000 crore opportunity over the next 24 months, including around ₹7,000 crore from mines and torpedoes and another ₹3,000–4,000 crore from programmes such as QRSAM, Akash-NG and Pinaka. Apollo is also planning around ₹600 crore of capacity expansion and pursuing acquisitions that could strengthen its capabilities in explosives, warheads, propulsion and other high-energy materials. Why Is the Brokerage Still Bullish? The interesting part isn't simply the ₹570 target price. It is the potential change in Apollo's business mix and position in the defence value chain. If the company successfully moves from component-level supply toward complete weapon-system integration, its addressable market could expand significantly, with potential implications for both revenue growth and margins. Systematix expects revenue to increase from ₹904 crore in FY26 to ₹2,460 crore by FY28, while adjusted profit is expected to rise from ₹107 crore to ₹336 crore.

RELIANCE RISES 2% TO BE AMONG TOP NIFTY GAINERS

RELIANCE
Shares of Reliance Industries Ltd. were among the top Nifty gainers on September 4, rising around 2% as the heavyweight stock crossed its key 100-day moving average (100-DMA). The gains came after RIL’s digital and telecommunications arm, Jio Platforms Ltd., received regulatory clearance to proceed with its proposed initial public offering. The Securities and Exchange Board of India issued its observation letter during the week ended August 28, effectively clearing the way for the company to move ahead with the issue. Jio Platforms had filed its draft IPO documents on June 19. According to the draft prospectus, the offering will comprise up to 270 million new shares, representing an estimated 2.9% dilution of the company’s equity, based on Bloomberg calculations. The company plans to use the proceeds primarily to repay debt and for general corporate purposes. Of the funds raised, around Rs 27,500 crore is expected to be used to repay debt of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. Jio Platforms, led by Akash Ambani, is reportedly targeting an IPO of around $4 billion. Economic Times reported on September 4, citing sources, that the offering could be launched by the end of October or in early November. The company is expected to finalise the IPO dates within the next couple of weeks. It would then begin with overseas roadshows before conducting investor meetings in India, according to the report.

Bharat Dynamics Q1 FY27: Revenue Up 131%, Profit Up 547%

BDL
Bharat Dynamics Limited reported standalone Q1 FY27 results for the quarter ended 30 June 2026 on 14 August 2026. Q1 FY27 numbers (standalone): Revenue from operations: Rs 572.24 crore, up 130.8% YoY from Rs 247.93 crore PBT: Rs 165.63 crore; PAT: Rs 118.79 crore, up 547.5% YoY from Rs 18.35 crore, but only 5% QoQ EPS: Rs 3.24; EBITDA margin 14.52% Order book: Rs 26,176 crore as of 31 March 2026, nearly 11 times FY26 revenue The YoY optics carry a collapsed base: Q1 FY26 was crushed by supply constraints on imported seekers and radars. Q1 revenue converted about 2.2% of the book, against brokerage estimates near Rs 1,300 crore from Akash alone. Post results, Goldman Sachs kept a Sell with a Rs 1,150 target citing margin pressure on new platforms. QRSAM, near Rs 30,000 crore, awaits CCS approval expected by September. Bharat Dynamics [
BDL
][***** shares closed at Rs 1,303.56 on 20 August 2026, down 2.6 percent today and 11.6 percent over one year. 52-week range Rs 1,068 to Rs 1,628. Trailing P/E near 92. My view: the 547 percent is the base talking, not the business accelerating; profit grew 5 percent QoQ. At 92x trailing with 2.2 percent quarterly book conversion, the price assumes execution that Q1 did not show. The book is real, the bottleneck is real, so this stays a hold with two dated triggers: the September QRSAM decision and visible easing in seeker supplies. Fresh entry before either is faith, not analysis. Levels: Rs 1,265 to 1,295 is the August base; below it the March floor near Rs 1,070; overhead, the results-day zone of Rs 1,380 to 1,395, then Rs 1,628. Pinaka Push: Apollo’s Shareholder Opportunity

APOLLO
Apollo Micro Systems is emerging as a key beneficiary of India’s Pinaka rocket programme, with negotiations completed for a 2,000-unit order that could unlock roughly ₹1,700 crore in component revenue. For shareholders, this represents a high-visibility growth catalyst, provided execution keeps pace with ambition. The Indian Army has finalised negotiations for 2,000 Pinaka rockets. Apollo’s role is to design, develop and manufacture critical onboard electronics and subsystems for both standard and guided variants. At an estimated ₹85 lakh per rocket, the addressable opportunity is about ₹1,700 crore. Management expects order formalisation within the current fiscal, adding substantially to its order book. To support 40–45% annual revenue growth guidance, Apollo is scaling operational capacity 12x, with the new facility expected to be fully ready by March 2027. The company has also agreed to acquire a 41.3% stake in Premier Explosives, enabling in-house weapon manufacturing. Beyond Pinaka, the execution pipeline includes QRSAM (₹1,000+ crore), Akash-NG (1,000 missiles), and Multi-Influence Ground Mines (70% of ₹3,500 crore contract), with revenue recognition starting in FY28. Benefits: Large, high-value orders enhance revenue visibility; vertical integration improves margins over time; defence tailwinds and export potential (e.g., Armenia) support long-term growth. Risks: Valuations are steep (P/E ~121x vs 3-year median ~94x); margin pressure from acquisitions; execution delays could disappoint. For shareholders, the Pinaka deal is valuable if Apollo converts negotiations into timely deliveries and sustains margin recovery post-Ideal Explosives integration.
