Technical Analysis → Trading below its 50-day moving average (50 DMA), indicating near-term weakness. → Trading close to its 200-day moving average (200 DMA), making this a key long-term trend level to monitor. → Needs to reclaim the 50 DMA and sustain levels above it to strengthen its technical outlook. → Technical View: Despite strong financial performance, the stock is facing near-term technical weakness. A sustained move above the 50 DMA would indicate improving momentum, while its position near the 200 DMA makes the long-term trend an important level to watch. Supreme Court Scrutiny on Medicine Mark-ups

Hospital stocks remain in the spotlight after the Supreme Court raised sharp concerns over steep mark-ups on medicines sold to patients at private hospitals. A bench flagged a cancer drug supplied to retailers at around ₹2,700 but carrying an MRP of ₹27,000 — nearly a tenfold difference — and questioned why the existing 16% trade margin cap on scheduled drugs has not been extended to non-scheduled medicines that dominate the market. The court also directed the Centre to examine practices compelling patients to buy from in-house or designated hospital pharmacies. The matter is listed for further hearing on October 12. The remarks triggered a sharp sell-off, with the BSE Hospitals Index falling about 5% and chains such as

MAXHEALTH
Healthcare, KIMS and others declining 5-6%. Brokerages have assessed the potential earnings hit. Goldman Sachs estimates a 2-7% EBITDA impact in scenarios with no mitigation, though it notes that modest pricing adjustments or greater use of package billing could cushion the effect. Emkay remains constructive on the sector, assigning Buy ratings to KIMS (target ₹850) and Park Medi World, and Add ratings to Max Healthcare (₹1,150), Global Health/Medanta (₹1,500) and Rainbow Children’s Medicare (₹1,550).

Park Medi World signs 28-year Kanpur hospital agreement

PARKHOSPS
has entered into a 28-year Operation and Management Agreement with Axis Educational Society for a 300-bed hospital in Kanpur. The agreement includes renovation and modernisation of the facility, with Park Medi World operating the hospital on an asset-light basis. The agreement gives Park Medi World an opportunity to expand its hospital network without taking ownership of the underlying hospital asset. The 300-bed facility also provides a sizeable platform to build its presence in Kanpur. The asset-light structure is the key part of the development. It can allow a hospital operator to expand capacity with lower upfront capital requirements compared with developing and owning a hospital. This can support network expansion while reducing the capital intensity of the growth model. The 28-year tenure is another important factor, as it provides a long operating horizon. However, the tenure alone should not be treated as guaranteed revenue. The announcement does not disclose the revenue-sharing arrangement, renovation investment, expected occupancy, margins or annual revenue contribution. In my view, the agreement is strategically positive because it combines a 300-bed facility with a long-term asset-light operating model. The renovation and modernisation of the hospital could also help create a stronger platform for future operations. The key question now is execution. Investors should watch the renovation timeline, operational launch, occupancy ramp-up, revenue contribution and hospital-level profitability. Further disclosure on the commercial terms will help assess the eventual financial impact. Stance: Strategically positive, with execution and hospital economics being the key factors to monitor. Disclosure: I do not hold any position or financial interest in Park Medi World Limited.
