Pidilite Industries - Rollover in the averages

PIDILITIND
is at 1566.90, more or less flat on the day. The 20 MA is at 1590.28 and the 50 MA at 1624.85. I want to use this chart to show you what the beginning of a change looks like, because it's a lot less dramatic than most people expect. Walk through the last five months. In May the stock came off the 1260 area and started climbing. Through June and July, price stayed above the blue 20 and the blue stayed above the red 50. Textbook. Every small dip got bought near those lines. Then August happened. The stock made its high near 1710 and started slipping. The 20 MA turned down first, which is normal because it reacts faster. Now look at the right edge of the chart. The 50 MA has also rolled over and started curving down. That's the part worth noticing. One average turning down is a pullback. Both of them turning down, with price under both, is a change in the short-term trend. Not a disaster, not a prediction of a crash, just a different phase from the one we had in July. Here's the practical bit. Price is at 1566.90 and the 20 MA is at 1590.28. So the stock is only about 23 points under its short average. That's a shallow decline so far. The larger question is whether buyers show up around 1540 to 1560, where the June consolidation sat, because old consolidation zones often become the first place a falling stock finds interest. Pidilite is a consumer-adjacent business with adhesives demand tied to construction and renovation activity, so it tends to be steady rather than exciting, and its pullbacks tend to be orderly. Reclaiming 1590 puts the shorter trend back in balance. Losing 1540 opens up the June range below.

Pidilite Industries Decides to close down Nina Percept

PIDILITIND
has commenced the voluntary liquidation of its step-down subsidiary, Nina Percept (Bangladesh) Private Limited, effective from August 19, 2026. The decision, initiated following an order from the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms, Bangladesh, is driven by a lack of business. Given that the subsidiary contributed a mere 0.21% of Pidilite's profits in previous fiscal periods, the closure is expected to have no material impact on the company's consolidated financials. The voluntary liquidation of Nina Percept Bangladesh is a tactical cleaning of Pidilite’s corporate structure. Liquidating non-performing, low-contribution step-down subsidiaries allows the management to focus resources on highly profitable segments. Since the unit contributed only 0.21% of the group's net profits, the impact on Pidilite's consolidated balance sheet is mathematically immaterial. Pidilite's core adhesives segment continues to command pricing power, showcasing strong operational hygiene. Winding down Nina Percept Bangladesh is a logical step in trimming non-yielding assets, emphasizing capital discipline. As Pidilite continues to record blockbuster double-digit volume growth in its home market, its structural investment thesis remains intact. Technical Analysis Pidilite Industries

The stock

PIDILITIND
is showing a strong bullish trend on the daily chart. After forming a major bottom around ₹1250–1300 in April the stock has given a strong recovery with consistent higher highs and higher lows. The breakout above the ₹1550–1600 zone was supported by strong price momentum confirming buying interest. Support & Resistance immediate support is around ₹1620–1600 followed by stronger support near ₹1550–1560. On the upside ₹1680–1700 is the immediate resistance zone while a sustained breakout above ₹1700 can open the way towards ₹1750–1800. Short-Term Outlook: The setup remains bullish, but the stock has moved up sharply and may see some profit booking. Fresh buyers should preferably wait for a pullback towards ₹1620–1600 or a strong breakout above ₹1700 with volume. Existing holders can continue holding with a trailing stop-loss around ₹1550. A close below ₹1550 would weaken the current bullish structure.

PIDILITIND
Q1 FY27: Strong Volume Growth and Pricing Power Offset Margin Pressures

PIDILITIND
kicked off FY27 with a strong 22.2% year-over-year growth in standalone revenue, driven by an 11.3% underlying volume growth (UVG) alongside strategic price increases. Consumer & Bazaar Segment Dominance: The company's primary Consumer & Bazaar business grew by 22.5% in revenue with a 12.2% UVG, demonstrating resilient demand across urban and rural markets for housing, repair, and renovation products. Mixed Results in B2B: The B2B division achieved a 16% revenue increase and 10.4% domestic volume expansion due to active industrial demand. However, geopolitical tensions created headwinds for international markets, causing export UVG to decline by 8.4%. Effective Inflation Management: A sharp spike in Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) raw material costs (peaking near $2,000/tonne) pressured gross margins. Pidilite countered this by implementing phased 2–12% price hikes without dampening consumer demand, proving its strong brand pricing power. Strategic Growth Expansion: Emerging business segments—including waterproofing (Dr. Fixit), premium tile adhesives (Roff), and EV-related industrial solutions—grew faster than core adhesives, strengthening the company's long-term portfolio diversification. Valuation & Outlook: Management maintains a target of double-digit long-term volume growth. However, trading at approximately 52 times FY28 projected earnings, the stock's current rich valuation indicates future returns will primarily depend on direct earnings growth rather than further valuation re-rating.
