Swan Defence and Heavy Industries (SDHI) shares gained over 1.8% in early trade on Thursday after the company announced it had secured a contract from Denmark-based towage operator Svitzer to build four advanced TRAnsverse 3200 tugs. The stock rose as much as 1.82% to an intraday high of ₹2,600. At 9:26 am, it was trading at ₹2,590, up ₹38.50, or 1.51%, from the previous close. In a stock exchange filing, the company said deliveries of the four tugs are scheduled to begin in early 2028. The order was awarded following an extensive competitive evaluation involving leading global shipyards. SDHI added that the high-specification vessels will be built to Bureau Veritas classification standards. Commenting on the project, the company said the patented TRAnsverse 3200 design was co-developed by naval architects Robert Allan Ltd. and Svitzer. The tugs are engineered for complex harbour towage and escort operations and feature a unique hydrodynamic hull design combined with omni-directional propulsion. According to the company, the vessels are capable of safely guiding large ships through challenging weather conditions and narrow port channels.
