Bata India's Latest Updates

BATAINDIA
Financial and Market Updates Bata India's stock experienced a significant surge, gaining up to 7% following the GST Council's decision to reduce the tax on footwear priced up to ₹2,500 from 12% to 5%. This change, effective from September 22, is expected to make footwear more affordable and stimulate demand. For the first quarter of fiscal year 2025-26, Bata India reported broadly stable revenue compared to the previous year. However, the company's net profit saw a notable decline, dropping by 70.1% to ₹52 crore, primarily due to higher costs. Strategic and Corporate Developments The Bata Group has appointed a new Global Chief Executive Officer, Panos Mytaros, with his tenure beginning in mid-September 2025. The company is continuing with its retail expansion strategy, adding 20 new franchise stores in the first quarter of the fiscal year, with a particular focus on smaller towns and semi-urban areas. In a move to streamline operations, Bata India has also made an announcement regarding a Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS). Bata has incorporated artificial intelligence (Generative AI) into its e-commerce platform to automate content creation. It has also launched new brand campaigns and collaborations to celebrate its 130th anniversary.
