JSW Energy Latest News and Updates

JSWENERGY
Q3 FY26 Financial Performance Revenue and EBITDA Surge: For the quarter ending December 31, 2025, JSW Energy reported a 67.4% year-on-year (YoY) increase in revenue, reaching ₹4,081 crore. EBITDA more than doubled to ₹2,033 crore, driven by a 65% jump in power sales and a 96% increase in renewable generation. Profitability Distortion: While reported net profit surged to ₹420 crore, this was largely due to a ₹751 crore one-time deferred tax write-back. On an adjusted basis (excluding this tax gain), the company would have posted a loss, primarily due to interest and depreciation costs jumping 2.4x following massive new asset additions. Major Project & Capacity Updates Salboni Thermal Project: In January 2026, JSW Energy signed a massive PPA with the West Bengal DISCOM for an additional 1,600 MW at its Salboni plant. This brings the total capacity under development at that site to 3.2 GW. Utkal PPA: The company secured a 25-year PPA for 400 MW at its Utkal plant with Karnataka DISCOMs at ₹5 per unit, effective April 2026. This move is expected to reduce the company's "open" merchant capacity from 8% to 5%. Renewable Milestones: The company successfully added 125 MW of solar and wind capacity during Q3. It remains on track to add a total of 1.5 GW in the second half of FY26, aiming for a total operational capacity of 13.3 GW. Backward Integration: JSW is commissioning a 5 GWh battery assembly plant in Pune and has received NCLT approval for the acquisition of rail infrastructure related to the KSK Mahanadi plant. 2030 Vision: The company has reiterated its "Strategy 2.0" goal to reach 30 GW of generation and 40 GWh of energy storage by 2030. Currently, about 18.7 GW of generation and 29.6 GWh of storage are already "locked-in" through various stages.
