Partnership for New Steel Plant JSW Steel and South Korea's POSCO Group have entered into a non-binding agreement to explore a 50:50 joint venture. The partnership's goal is to establish a new integrated steel plant in India with a capacity of six million tonnes per annum. The companies will conduct a detailed study to finalize the location, with Odisha being a key prospective site for the project. Production and Capacity Expansion JSW Steel recently reported a significant increase in crude steel production. In the first quarter of the fiscal year, production was up by 19% year-on-year, driven by strong demand in the domestic market. The company is proceeding with its expansion plans to grow its consolidated steel capacity to 43.4 million tonnes per annum over the next three years. Other Strategic Developments The company has been actively involved in other strategic initiatives. This includes a joint venture with JFE Steel Corporation for a substantial investment to expand the manufacturing capacity of electrical steel. Additionally, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JSW Steel has been awarded a mining lease for a new iron ore block in Odisha.
