Market & Commodity Updates Precious Metals Rebound: After a period of heavy selling pressure, gold and silver prices saw a sharp recovery today. Gold futures for April delivery rose by over 4% to reach approximately ₹1,44,260 per 10 grams, while silver futures for May surged nearly 5% to trade around ₹2,35,434 per kg Crude Oil Decline: Contrary to the bullion trend, MCX Crude Oil futures witnessed a significant drop of over 4%, falling to roughly ₹8,375 per barrel. This movement follows a rejection from higher resistance zones and a shift in market momentum. Contract Expiry Changes: MCX revised the expiry dates for March copper and zinc options. These were advanced by one day to March 23, 2026, to align with adjustments in the underlying futures contracts caused by upcoming trading holidays. Exchange Operations & Corporate News Holiday Notice: The exchange will remain closed for the morning session on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in observance of Ram Navami. The evening session may reopen depending on the specific exchange schedule. Financial Performance: For Q3 FY26 (ending December 2025), MCX reported a consolidated net profit of ₹401.12 crore, a massive 150.6% increase year-on-year. Total income from operations also surged 121% to ₹665.62 crore. Stock Split Completion: The exchange recently completed a 1:5 share split. Each equity share with a face value of ₹10 was subdivided into five shares with a face value of ₹2, with the record date having been set for early January 2026. Regulatory & Competitive Landscape NSE Competition: Competition in the commodity space is intensifying as the NSE launched gold 10gm futures on March 18, 2026. The NSE also announced plans to introduce Brent crude and natural gas contracts in the near future.
