MSUMI
Financial Results (Q1 FY26) Samvardhana Motherson International reported a consolidated profit after tax (PAT) of ₹606 crore for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026, marking a significant decline of over 45% compared to the previous quarter. The company's revenue, however, saw a modest increase of approximately 3% year-on-year, reaching ₹30,212 crore. The company cited a challenging business environment, including structural issues in Europe, as a reason for the lower profitability. Business Operations and Acquisitions The company continued its strategic growth by operationalizing three new "greenfield" facilities during the quarter, with a focus on non-automotive businesses like consumer electronics and precision metals. Motherson also entered into new strategic partnerships. It is also reportedly preparing a bid for Marelli Holdings and is raising funds for a potential acquisition. US Tariffs and Global Production Samvardhana Motherson has stated that the recently imposed US tariffs on Indian imports will not have a significant impact on its operations. The company's exports to the US from India are small, and most of its contracts are structured to mitigate tariff risks. The company noted that global automotive production saw mixed results, with a modest rise in light vehicle production globally but declines in Europe and North America. Corporate Actions Motherson Sumi Wiring India Ltd., a group company, announced a bonus share issue of 1:2 with a record date of July 18, 2025. Samvardhana Motherson International also declared a dividend of ₹0.35 per share for the quarter ending March 2025. The company's stock has experienced some volatility but has seen an intraday price increase recently.
