NATIONALUM
Record Q3 FY26 Financial Results NALCO reported its highest-ever quarterly net profit for the period ending December 31, 2025. Consolidated net profit reached ₹1,601 crore, reflecting a 26% year-on-year growth for the nine-month period. Total income for the quarter stood at ₹4,925 crore, driven by strong domestic sales and operational efficiencies. Management credited this performance to smart margin management and record production volumes across its operational segments. IMajor Expansion Projects The company is advancing its capacity through several large-scale projects. The 1 million tonne per annum (MTPA) alumina refinery stream at Damanjodi is on track for commissioning in June 2026. Additionally, NALCO is pursuing a 0.5 million tonne brownfield smelter expansion and a 1080 MW power plant, with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) expected to be finalized by mid-2026. Raw Material Security and Mining To support its expanded refining capacity, NALCO aims to operationalize the Pottangi bauxite mines by June 2026. In the interim, the company is completing a parallel downhill conveyor system at existing mines to ensure a steady supply of bauxite. Furthermore, its coal mining operations at the Utkal-D and E blocks are helping reduce dependence on external fuel sources for its power-intensive smelting process. Green Energy and Sustainability In late January 2026, NALCO announced plans to develop 200–300 MW of renewable power capacity integrated with battery storage to decarbonize its operations. The company also signed a pact with NLC India to support its long-term captive power requirements through green energy projects. These initiatives are designed to mitigate rising power costs, which currently account for nearly 40% of aluminium production expenses.
