Paytm has reported its first-ever consolidated net profit of Rs 122.5 crore for the quarter ended June 2025 (Q1 FY26). This marks a significant shift from the net losses in previous quarters. The company attributed this profitability to disciplined cost management, including reduced marketing and employee benefit expenses, and increased revenue from its core payment and financial services segments.
Revenue from operations for Q1 FY26 grew 28% year-on-year to Rs 1,917.5 crore, largely driven by improved payment processing margins and a doubling of revenue from financial services distribution. Paytm's Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) increased by 27%, reaching Rs 5.39 lakh crore, and merchant subscriptions hit a new high of 1.3 crore, reflecting continued growth in its core business.
In a strategic move, One 97 Communications appointed Manorview Developers, a subsidiary of Adani Infrastructure, as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Contractor for its upcoming 10-acre IT/ITES facility in Noida. This indicates an investment in expanding its physical infrastructure.
Regarding past regulatory challenges, it's important to recall that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had imposed significant restrictions on Paytm Payments Bank, prohibiting new deposits and certain services after March 15, 2024, due to compliance issues. More recently, SEBI issued an administrative warning to Paytm regarding excess related party transactions with Paytm Payments Bank in FY 2021-22, which Paytm has stated will not affect its operations.
Paytm's shares have shown strong performance, surging 122% over the past year. Despite this rally, the stock remains 53% below its initial public offering (IPO) price of Rs 2,150. The company's Q1 FY26 results have been a key driver of recent market interest.#WatchOutFor#StockInNews#FundamentalViews#EquityResearch#PersonalFinance
