PAYTM
Shares of Paytm may see action as Alibaba-backed Antfin is reportedly planning to sell up to 4% of its stake in the company through block deals worth over ₹2,000 crore. The floor price for the potential sale is set at ₹809.75 per share, which could lead to a discount on the current market price. This significant reduction in Antfin's stake is raising questions about their long-term strategy for the Indian fintech firm. Significant Stake Sale by Antfin: Alibaba's fintech arm, Antfin, is reportedly selling approximately 4% of its stake in Paytm's parent company, One97 Communications, through block deals. This is estimated to be worth around ₹2,200 crore.   Floor Price: The floor price for the potential stake sale is set at ₹809.75 per share, representing a discount of about 6.4% to Paytm's closing price on Monday.   Stock Price Reaction: Following this news, Paytm's share price experienced a decline of over 3% in early trade today. It touched an intraday low of ₹823.10 before recovering slightly.   Block Deal Details: Around 1.7 to 1.72 crore shares, representing about 4.1% equity, changed hands in block deals. The buyers and exact transaction prices are not yet publicly disclosed.   Antfin's Reduced Holding: This stake sale will further reduce Antfin's holding in Paytm, which stood at 9.85% as of March 2025. They had previously sold a stake in August 2023.   Q4 FY25 Results: Paytm recently reported a consolidated net loss of ₹540 crore for Q4 FY25, a marginal improvement from the ₹550 crore loss in the same period last year. The company noted that its profit after tax (excluding exceptional items) is nearing breakeven.
