Filatex India Ltd – Company Fundamental Analysis

FILATEX
Filatex India is an integrated polyester filament yarn manufacturer with operations spanning polymerisation, POY, FDY and DTY, giving it control across much of the value chain. It is among India's larger polyester filament producers, with around 4.17 lakh tonnes of installed capacity and sustained utilisation above 90%. Its exposure to apparel, home textiles, industrial and technical applications provides diversified demand, while its in-house R&D and chemical-recycling initiatives create a potential longer-term opportunity beyond conventional polyester manufacturing. FY26 was a strong profitability year despite a modest decline in revenue. Revenue from operations fell 2.15% to ₹4,160.5 crore and sales volume declined marginally, but EBITDA increased 34.5% to ₹346.5 crore and PAT rose 36.7% to ₹183.9 crore. EBITDA margin improved from 6.06% to 8.33%, indicating substantially better operating efficiency and product economics. Q4 revenue declined 8.75% year-on-year to ₹985.5 crore, but EBITDA still grew 13.9% to ₹86.2 crore, showing that margin improvement continued even with weaker volumes. The latest Q1 FY27 performance also appears encouraging, with consolidated revenue of approximately ₹1,145 crore and PAT of ₹48 crore. The key investment opportunity lies in maintaining high capacity utilisation, improving product mix, expanding exports and developing circular/recycled polyester capabilities. However, Filatex remains exposed to crude and polymer prices, polyester spreads, Chinese competition, currency movements and textile-cycle volatility. The major positive is that FY26 earnings growth came despite almost flat volumes, suggesting genuine margin improvement rather than purely volume-driven growth.
