PART 2 READ PART 1 FOR PRIOR INFO 1. Classification of Companies Based on Market Cap Companies are grouped into three major categories based on their market capitalization: A. Large-Cap Stocks (Market Cap: ₹50,000 Cr & Above) These are well-established companies with a strong market presence. Generally, they have consistent revenue and profit growth. Less volatile but may provide moderate returns. Examples: Reliance Industries, TCS, Infosys, HDFC Bank. Pros: Stable and less risky. Ideal for long-term investment. Regular dividend payouts. Cons: Lower growth potential compared to mid/small-cap stocks. Can be slow-moving in terms of price appreciation. B. Mid-Cap Stocks (Market Cap: ₹10,000 Cr - ₹50,000 Cr) Mid-cap companies are in a growth phase and have potential to become large-cap. More volatile than large-caps but can provide higher returns. Suitable for investors looking for both growth & stability. Examples: Tata Elxsi, Mphasis, Escorts, PI Industries. Pros: Higher growth potential than large-cap stocks. More flexible and adaptive to market changes. Good balance between risk and reward. Cons: More volatile than large-caps. Growth depends on industry cycles and economic conditions. C. Small-Cap Stocks (Market Cap: Below ₹10,000 Cr) These are emerging companies with high growth potential. Can generate multi-bagger returns but also have high risk. More volatile, especially during market downturns. Examples: BSE Ltd, RateGain, RailTel, Dixon Technologies. Pros: High growth potential; can become mid or large-cap in the future. Can deliver exponential returns over me. Attractive for investors with a high-risk appetite. Cons: Extremely volatile; stock prices fluctuate significantly. May take longer to deliver returns.
