RITES Ltd – Fundamental Overview

RITES
RITES is a Navratna public-sector company focused on transport infrastructure consultancy, engineering, and related services for railways and other infrastructure. In FY25, it reported consolidated revenue of ₹2,324 crore, down from ₹2,539 crore in FY24, while its EBITDA was ₹527 crore, which gives a healthy margin of 23.8%. Its profit after tax (PAT) for FY25 was ₹424 crore, lower than the previous year. In Q4 FY25, it posted a net profit of ₹141 crore with EBITDA of ₹189 crore, translating to very high margins of ~30.8% and PAT margin of ~22.1%. One of RITES’ key strengths is its order book: at the end of FY25, its order book stood at a record ₹8,877 crore, driven by more than 150 new orders in Q4. That gives the company very strong medium-term visibility. The company has maintained a disciplined “one order a day” trend, which underlines its strong business development engine. A major part of RITES’ revenue comes from its consultancy business, which continues to be its most profitable vertical. In FY25, consultancy contributed significantly to its topline, with very high margins. It also has substantial leasing and turnkey business lines. Exports were weak in FY25, but the management is explicitly targeting a pick-up in physical exports and turnkey projects going into FY26. Financially, RITES is quite cash-generative and returns a lot of capital to shareholders — for FY25, it recommended a final dividend of ₹2.65 per share, bringing the payout ratio to ~95%. Strategically, RITES is focused on diversifying its business and improving its margin mix. The company is pushing to grow its international footprint through export orders on rolling stock, especially in African and South Asian markets. At the same time, it is expanding higher-margin consultancy work domestically, and also growing its quality-assurance (QA) business in new sectors like renewable energy infrastructure, transmission, and public works.
