Sambhv Steel Tubes Ltd – Company Fundamental Analysis

Sambhv Steel Tubes is an integrated steel-products manufacturer focused on ERW pipes and tubes, structural products, stainless-steel cold-rolled coils and galvanized products. Its integrated manufacturing model, including sponge iron, slabs, hot rolling and value-added downstream products, provides greater control over costs and product mix. The company is also pursuing a large capacity-expansion programme, with a long-term plan to increase finished-product capacity from about 682,000 tonnes to more than 2 million tonnes. Q1 FY27 was particularly strong. Revenue from operations increased 31.1% YoY to ₹732.2 crore, operating profit rose 36.2% to ₹82.7 crore and PAT increased 66.9% to ₹56.5 crore. Operating margin improved to 11.3%, while management reported its highest-ever value-added sales volume, supported by structural pipes and tubes. However, net debt/operating EBITDA increased to around 1.0x from 0.78x at FY26-end as the company invests in expansion. The major growth opportunity comes from increasing the contribution of value-added steel products and substantial planned capacity additions. The company is undertaking a 150,000-tonne brownfield structural-pipe expansion and a much larger greenfield expansion, including 360,000 tonnes of stainless-steel capacity in the first phase. Captive power projects could also improve cost efficiency. The key risks are steel-price volatility, working-capital requirements, higher leverage during the expansion cycle and execution risk on the large capex programme. Overall, Sambhv has demonstrated strong revenue and profit momentum, but the next phase will require disciplined capital allocation and successful capacity ramp-up; investors should monitor whether the additional capacity generates adequate returns without materially weakening the balance sheet.
