Sangam India Fundamentals Overview

SANGAMIND
Sangam India is a mid sized textile player with vertically integrated operations across yarn, fabric and garments, which gives it some operational control but also exposes it heavily to cyclical textile demand. The company generates annual revenue in the range of around 2800 to 3000 crore, showing moderate growth over time but nothing exceptional, as sales growth over the last five years has remained under 10 percent, indicating a slow expansion phase rather than a strong growth story Profitability is where the real concern starts. Net profit has fallen sharply from earlier highs, dropping from over 130 crore levels to around 27 to 60 crore range recently, and margins have compressed significantly to near 1 percent levels, compared to 5 to 6 percent earlier. Return ratios are weak and this is a major red flag. Return on equity is around 3 percent and return on capital employed near 6 percent, which is far below desirable levels even for a textile company. This means capital is not being used efficiently and the business is not generating strong shareholder value Debt position is on the higher side with debt to equity around 1, and interest coverage is also low. Promoter holding is strong at around 70 percent, which is a positive sign of control and confidence, but institutional participation is very low, showing lack of strong smart money interest Valuation is where things become questionable. The stock is trading at a relatively high PE despite weak profitability and low returns, and it appears to be trading at a premium compared to its intrinsic strength, making the risk reward unattractive at current levels Overall, fundamentals are average to weak. The business is stable but not high quality, profitability is declining, returns are poor, and valuation is not cheap. This is not a strong long term compounder unless there is a clear turnaround in margins and return ratios
