Axis Bank Nifty Gainer Three Sessions August 17 to 19 2026

Axis Bank Limited

AXISBANK
AN featured among the top Nifty 50 and Sensex gainers across three consecutive sessions from August 17 to 19, 2026, in a week when the broader index fell for five straight days under pressure from elevated crude oil prices and rising US Treasury yields. On August 17, Axis Bank gained 1.16 per cent to close at Rs 1,231.50, the second-biggest gainer on the Sensex that day alongside Tata Steel and Eternal. On August 18, it led the Nifty 50 gainers again, rising 1.65 per cent to Rs 1,247.60, with more than 42 lakh shares traded in the session. On August 19, it continued in positive territory even as the broader Nifty fell 38.30 points. In a market where IT, pharma, FMCG and telecom stocks alternated between days of selling and relief rallies, Axis Bank's three-session consistency stood out. Private banking stocks as a group showed relative resilience through the week, with Axis Bank outperforming peers including Kotak Mahindra Bank and HDFC Bank on most sessions. Axis Securities named Axis Bank as one of its top August picks alongside ICICI Bank and Bharti Airtel, citing upsides of up to 28 per cent from current levels. Key financial metrics: - *Q4 FY26 net profit: Rs 7,130 crore*, up 11.4 per cent year on year - Net interest margin: approximately 3.99 per cent in Q4 FY26 - *Gross NPA: 1.28 per cent* — the lowest in over a decade for the bank - 52-week high: Rs 1,339.35 - 52-week low: Rs 995.40 - Market cap: approximately Rs 4.15 lakh crore The three-session gainer run, against a backdrop of five straight days of Nifty losses, reflects the market's current preference for domestically driven, asset-quality-improving private banks over sectors with higher global macro sensitivity.
