KEI Industries: revenue jumps 38%, profit rises 29%
KEI Industries Ltd reported a 29% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹262.5 crore in Q2 FY27.
Revenue rose 38.5% to ₹3,776.4 crore, while EBITDA increased around 40% to ₹376 crore.
The numbers point to healthy business momentum, but the important detail is how the company is converting higher sales into operating profit.
EBITDA grew faster than revenue, and the EBITDA margin improved marginally to around 10% from 9.9% a year earlier. This suggests that profitability has remained broadly stable despite the sharp increase in business volume.
The wires and cables industry is benefiting from investments in power transmission, infrastructure, real estate and industrial electrification. These trends provide a favourable demand backdrop for established manufacturers such as KEI Industries.
However, investors should not assume that strong sector demand will automatically translate into higher margins. Competition, copper and aluminium prices, capacity utilisation and working-capital requirements can all influence financial performance.
Here are the factors I would monitor in the coming quarters:
1. Revenue growth:Can the company sustain its current growth rate?
2. Margins:Will operating profitability improve as sales expand?
3. Capacity expansion: Can new capacity support growth without affecting returns?
4. Working capital: Are receivables and inventory growing in line with revenue?
5. Competition:Can KEI maintain its position in a competitive wires and cables market?
view: The Q2 numbers are encouraging, with strong revenue growth and faster EBITDA expansion. The next test is whether KEI can sustain this momentum while improving margins and cash generation.
