Markets opened firmly higher this morning, with Sensex up 262 points and Nifty advancing 83 points to 24,161, tracking strong overnight gains on Wall Street. Maruti Suzuki was among the top Sensex gainers at the open, rising 1.51 per cent, as Nifty IT and Consumer Durables led sectoral gains.
The sales numbers explain why the stock is finding buyers. Total sales in June 2026 hit 2,00,390 units — up 19.3 per cent year on year — with domestic sales of 1,57,622 units rising 21 per cent YoY and exports of 42,768 units climbing 13 per cent YoY. Production jumped 39.58 per cent year on year to 1,78,024 units in June, signalling that supply is keeping pace with demand momentum. May 2026 was even stronger — total sales of 2,42,688 units, a 34.8 per cent jump, with both domestic and export volumes growing at the same rate.
The board has already scheduled its meeting for July 31 to approve Q1 FY27 results, making the next two weeks a pre-result accumulation window for auto investors. A final dividend of Rs 140 per share for FY26 has been declared with a record date of August 7, adding a near-term income angle to the trade.
