Bulls Lose Grip: Nifty Down 74 pts, Bank Nifty Sheds 2,095 pts in 5 Days

On the last trading session of August (29 Aug 2025), broader Indian equity indices extended their losses. Nifty slipped 74 pts, giving up early gains after trading in green for the first 90 minutes. Bank Nifty continued its downward streak for the fifth consecutive session, closing 164 pts lower and shedding over 2,095 pts in the past five days. Within Bank Nifty,

AUBANK
led the losers, down 1.54%, while
KOTAKBANK
bucked the trend, gaining nearly 0.8%. Heavyweight
HDFCBANK
fell for the sixth straight session, losing another 0.65%. Among Nifty50 constituents,
M&M
dropped ~3% and
RELIANCE
declined over 2%, adding to the index pressure. On the positive side, ITC rebounded with a 1.5% rise after three sessions of losses.
