Geopolitical Tensions Fire Up Defence Stocks; Nifty Defence Index Climbs
Defence stocks surged for the second straight day on June 3, defying the broader market trend. The Nifty India Defence index rose 1.6% to around 8,833. COCHINSHIP led the rally, climbing as much as 6.6%, while GRSE saw a nearly 5% gain. BEML also advanced, touching a calendar year high of ₹4,448 in 2025. The sector’s strength comes amid rising geopolitical tensions, boosting investor interest in defence-linked counters. Despite market volatility, defence shares are showing strong momentum and continued resilience, making them a bright spot in an otherwise subdued trading session.
