Indo-Pak Tensions Drag Markets; Sensex Falls 1,047 Points, Nifty Below 24,100

Indian equity markets ended their 3-week winning streak with notable losses, weighed down by escalating Indo-Pak tensions despite favorable global developments such as US-UK and US-China trade talks, an ECB rate cut, and sustained FII inflows. For the week ended May 9, the Sensex dropped 1.3% (1,047 points) to close at 79,454, while the Nifty shed 1.4% (339 points) to 24,008. The BSE Large-cap and Mid-cap indices also declined, dragged by stocks like

BANKBARODA
,
GODREJPROP
, and
NHPC
. On the upside,
TATAMOTORS
,
TITAN
, and
POLYCAB
showed strength. The Nifty Realty index tanked 6.5%, while Auto and Media bucked the trend. The rupee weakened to 85.37/USD. FIIs and DIIs remained net buyers, limiting deeper market losses. Disclaimer: This post is for informational purposes only and does not constitute investment advice.
