Nifty’s 7-Day Losing Streak as IT Sector Outperforms

Nifty-50 extended its losing streak to seven sessions on August 19, 2026, falling 2.06% cumulatively, while Nifty IT gained 0.73%. The Nifty-50 closed in the red for the seventh consecutive trading session on August 19, 2026, extending its cumulative decline during the streak to 2.06%. This marks the index’s longest losing streak since September 30, 2025, when the Nifty closed lower for eight consecutive sessions and declined 3.2% cumulatively. Amid the broader weakness, Nifty IT emerged as the top-performing sector today, gaining 0.73%. Within the IT space,

and HCLTech were notable movers, with both stocks gaining more than 2%. The year-to-date picture also highlights contrasting performances among major large-cap stocks.
