ACME Solar signs 300 MW peak power PPA at ₹6 per unit
ACME Solar Holdings Limited (NSE: ACMESOLAR)
ACMESOLAR
has signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 300 MW assured peak power project. The tariff is fixed at ₹6.00 per unit.
What happened: The project was won under the SECI FDRE-IX competitive bid. It supplies power for a 4-hour daily peak window, which works out to 1,200 MWh (1.2 GWh) a day. The input says this takes the company's PPA-signed battery storage capacity toward 15 GWh, though it does not give the exact current total.
Why it matters: A fixed tariff with a central government counterparty means the price is known and payment risk is low for the contract term. FDRE means firm and dispatchable renewable energy, where storage lets a solar developer deliver power at set hours.
My view: Here is the rough maths. 1,200 MWh is 12 lakh units. At ₹6.00, that is about ₹72 lakh of revenue a day. If every day were fully delivered, the ceiling is about ₹263 crore a year. This is my estimate, not a reported figure. Actual revenue will be lower if availability falls short of contract terms. The input also calls ₹6.00 a premium to plain solar tariffs, but gives no comparison number, so I cannot size that premium. Project cost and returns are not disclosed either.
Risks: Delays in the battery storage and transmission build. Battery cell prices and the rupee before equipment is locked in. Grid curtailment outside peak hours.
What I am watching next: Financial closure and debt tie-up for the 300 MW project. Commissioning and grid synchronisation in Rajasthan. Further PPAs from pending Letters of Award.
