JSW Energy Signs SHA With Druk Green Power for 920 MW Hydro Project

$JSWENERGY through its subsidiary JSW Neo Energy Limited, has signed a Shareholders' Agreement with Druk Green Power Corporation for the 920 MW Punatsangchhu-III Hydroelectric Project in Bhutan's Wangdue Phodrang District. Structured as a BOOT scheme, JSWNEL holds a 49% stake with an initial equity contribution of BTN 245 million, marking JSW Energy's first power generation venture outside India. The project bolsters JSW Energy's hydro portfolio, which currently stands at 1,781 MW operational capacity, as the company targets 30 GW total generation capacity by 2030. For investors, the key developments to track next will include the finalization of the DPR, the timeline for financial closure, and the projected start date for construction activities. Managing the balance between the company's aggressive growth plans and the long-term capital intensity of hydropower projects will remain an important factor to observe as the project progresses.
